Hadrian DistrictScout Council
is responsible for the Largest Geographical Scouting District in England.
Our aim is: To be recognised as a valued, successful and growing movement
engaging all sections of the community in a full range of quality and enjoyable
"scouting"
Our District is already known
for:
· Being the location of the First Scout Camp in the world - "Look
Wide" in 1908.
· Opening the first Beaver Scout Colony in England.
· Having the first Group in the UK which involved Girls in Scouting
We are proud of:
· Our local World Heritage site "Hadrian's Wall"
· Our many areas of outstanding beauty which is steeped in History
· To have been instrumental in developing the Hawkhirst Adventure Camp
at Kielder.
· Our own District campsite in its idyllic surroundings at Dilston
Nr Corbridge.
We welcome:
· Visitors from the UK and abroad
· Older scouts wishing to become involved in developing scouting for
the 21st century
· Adults who want to be part of a great team, who wish to make a positive
contribution to society by helping young people to develop as active members
of the community who: are self reliant, caring, responsible and
show commitment.
